About Us

The Bardavon String Quartet  takes its name from the home of the Hudson Valley Philharmonic, the Bardavon 1869 Opera House, located in Poughkeepsie, New York.

The Bardavon String Quartet was founded in 1985 as the Hudson Valley Philharmonic String Quartet and continues to play recitals and formal concerts under its original name.  Since 1994, they have been the Quartet-in-Residence at the State University of New York at New Paltz.  The foursome have been featured as soloists with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic, both as a quartet and as individuals, and have played concerts throughout the Hudson Valley and New York City, including Carnegie Recital Hall and Lincoln Center.  The quartet has recorded classical compositions and backed popular singers on various labels including Albany, MCA and Soundspells.

Individually, all four members of the Bardavon String Quartet have a history of solo, chamber and orchestral performances abroad as well as in the United States, playing at festivals such as Tanglewood, Aspen and the Casals Festival.  Your event will be enhanced by their talent and their love of playing music.
